Achieving appropriate bond strength between two or more sheets of different alloys is of particular importance. Conventional methods for producing bimetallic sheets include fusion welding processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) or (TIG) and friction stir welding (FSW). This study investigates the mechanical properties and microstructure of bimetallic samples made from dissimilar aluminum alloys AA5052 and AA1200 joined by GTAW and FSW. Mechanical tests showed that in FSW samples, rupture occurred in the weld zone, whereas in TIG samples, fracture occurred in the base metal. Microhardness tests indicate higher hardness in the weld zone of GTAW (TIG) samples due to the use of 5356 ER filler compared to FSW. Finally, tensile test analysis and comparison determined that the TIG method outperformed FSW for joining some sheets. Finally, by analyzing and comparing the tensile test results, it was determined that the TIG method performs better than FSW in joining some sheets.
